Previous location: Icy coast
Our traveling town seems to have stopped in a harsh frozen coastal landscape this time. It is breathtakingly beautiful to look at, but be sure to wear some warm clothes if you go outside the towns border. Although there seems to be little life amongst the desolate small patches of ice floes there has been some sightings of dark slippery creatures along the frosty beaches. According to a little Viking like village a few miles away these animals are called the Fursegla, (Fur-seg-la) and have a lot of folklore surrounding them. These stories often involve the creature performing some evil trick and transforming into a human, or a human gets changed into a Fursegla. From a distance they can look like oddly human when they bathe on the coastline in the weak sunlight.
The interesting looking eggs are sometimes left alone hidden under clumps of thick seaweed to keep them safe and warm while the adults hunt for fish.
The young pups that can be occasionally sighted on the floes near the rocks are much lighter coloured to hide them amongst the ice above the water since they are probably too young and small to dive into the freezing water yet. After watching a few brave people try to get near the young and instead getting beaten away by the adults powerful and heavy horns we advise you to stay away from the little Fursegla's.
Yet they are a very eerie looking animal, partially because their face seems to be covered by a naturally formed mask. Presumably this is to prevent the freezing temperatures taking body heat through their face. The colours on the mask seem to be part of how they blend in as they stick their heads through the ice before they pull the rest of their darker bodies up. The seal like bodies are better suited underwater against the darkness and the grey rocks. The scarce locals prize the horns, mask and black manes of the adults wearing them in ancient rituals and dances, which is disconcerting and yet spellbinding to watch if you are a more modern times based person.
