Opening an umbrella indoors

This is an obscure yet simple belief, it seems to come from when umbrellas were also used to protect people from the harmful sun rays. The sun has always been a powerful and holy symbol, so a device that can shield people from it would have some strong beliefs attached to it. Supposedly opening the umbrella indoors where it is shaded is wrong, and might upset the umbrellas spirit that has been protecting its owner.
