A bizarre little fish believed to be related to seahorses the seamoths, also called Pegasidae, are a group of tropical fish highly specialized for hunting and eating small organisms on sandy sea floors. They dont have swim bladders which impairs their buoyancy compared to other fish, but instead by using the fins underneath its body they perform a odd slow trundling walk across the sea bed. They can often be seen doing this in pairs which they stay in to breed. They are very adaptable, their jaws can be manipulated to form a tube to hoover up their prey, such as worms, and their skin can change to a several colours to blend in with the sea floor.
